A selection of courses in painting, drawing and printmaking for all levels and abilities. Some of the printmaking courses are available to book one on one during our open access Print Club sessions on Friday mornings. All of the classes are availble for private group bookings on Saturday morinings, please see the individual class for details.
Monoprinting Landscapes
Explore landscape through monoprinting. Create light and tone by adding and removing ink from a perspex plate both in black and white or in colour to create dynamic, expressive landscapes. By painting on a plate instead of on paper or canvas a variety of textures and effects can be produced to create beautiful and surprising images.
Botanical Monoprinting
Have a go at monoprinting with some of our dried and pressed botanical samples or bring some of your own! This medium is perfectly suited to experienced artists and newbies alike as it consistently produces surprising results. This is the perfect way to have a play in the print room. Expect to leave with a varied selection of botanical prints ranging from the delicate and minimal to the bold and colourful.
Letterpress Taster
Come and try your hand at letterpress printing in our dedicated letterpress studio. Have a play with our selection of wood and metal type and print an origilal poster on one of our beautiful presses! This is a one day course that runs on Saturdays available to small groups or on a one to one basis.
Exploring Drawing
A fun and freeing drawing session for all abilities especially suited to beginners or those wanting to get back into their drawing and discover new approaches . This is a guided class where we will draw from observation and explore various techniques and media.
Drypoint Collagraph Workshop
In our time teaching printmaking at walden arts this has become one of our favourite processes. By using a combination of mark making techniques on a glossy peice of mount board many subtle visual effects can be produced. With many of the benefits of traditional etching or collagraph but without the faff, this is a super fun print process suitable for all levels.
Experimental Landscape
A landscape class for all abilities. Split between plein air drawing and painting in beautiful locations that surround our studio and working back in the printroom and painting studio when the weather is poor. This class will encourage you to creatively engage with your surroundings and help you translate that feeling into exciting drawings, paintings and prints.
T-shirt Printing
Learn how to screen print your own t-shirts, hoodies or bags in a professional print studio. In this course we will go through the whole process, starting with a drawing in your sketchbook (or an idea in your head) and ending with small run of your own hand printed merch!
Screen Print Taster
Produce a two-colour screen print in our professional studio. Learn how to create imagery for screen printing and how to transfer your imagery onto the screen using the photo emulsion method. Then enjoy all the fun of printing, learning how to layer your artwork with inking and registration tips for creating bold, dynamic imagery.
