Description

Come and have a play and try your hand at various different painting, drawing and printmaking techniques in this relaxed evening art class. Each week we will run a bespoke class on one of our favourite techniques. Aimed at all abilities this is a chance to let loose and experiment in the company of other artists, with plenty of tea and snacks and maybe a glass of wine. Here is what we have in store:

Lino with Chine Colle – This is a great way of playing with the vibrant medium of lino printing. Add multiple colours and layers to a single colour lino print by using tissue paper collaged underneath your print to build up a beautiful colourful image. In this class we will teach you how to carve a lino and print it using this method.

Monoprinting with stencils – Monoprinting is one of our favourite printmaking techniques and has been one of our most popular courses. It is also an extremely diverse medium with an endless array of approaches and outcomes. In this method we use paper stencils and various other textured materials to create multiple layered prints. This technique more than any other inspires play and improvisation and leads to surprising results!

Drypoint with collagraph – Another favourite at Walden Arts! In this technique we combine drypoint and collagraph techniques on a piece of mountcard to create beautiful textural effects. This technique allows for fine linework and drawing but also beautiful tonal textures , it creates incredible results and what’s more is super easy and quick!

Botanical Drawing – Experiment drawing botanical samples using various mediums and approaches. From charcoal and  watercolour to ink drawing using sticks, this is a fun and varied session that will push your drawing in new directions.

Wet on Wet Watercolour – This is a fun technique that creates beautiful results. By wetting the paper the watercolours create ‘bleed’ and ‘bloom’ effects as the watercolours spread and blend on the paper. Perfect for landscapes or for drawing from a selection of our botanical samples.

Figure Drawing – Try you hand at some observational drawing. For this session we will have a clothed model and will teach you some experimental approaches to figure drawing.
