Alter/Native – A Talk by Darren Deojee

The third event in our series at The Old Sail Loft organised by ‘Kindred Spirits’ introduces our audience to Gender Teacher and Mage Darren Deojee.

Darren Deojee is a teacher of ancient Mexican Toltec  tradition. His work focuses on issues of Gender and Relating, he has been practising his unique self affirming mentor programme for 25 years and has been teaching his model of understanding Self for 14 years .

Deojee is particularly interested in how we use language and sound to relate to each other. His approach is unusual and  invites the audience to reframe how we view and use words, breaking the words down, looking at the origins of language and speech.

Working with sound, vibration, tone and other techniques Deojee leads the audience on a journey which explores the unexpected origin of words and phrases we have come to accept as normal.

“where one philosophy thinks everything is made up of ‘Om’s and another thinks everything is made up of ‘at-Om’s’ sound is pretty significant. Our language certainly suggests it: Come and discover a whole new yet ancient way of using and understanding sound in ways that can transform not only our emotional state, but also our state of awareness, and even our embodied ease”

He mentors men, women and couples utilising the mysteries of sound to activate new understanding of gender stereotypes. His work includes rites of passage and he has facilitated many retreats for men.

This will be an evening to provoke and inspire. Tickets are available from Eventbrite
